11 arrested in Minnesota for serious drug charges

People are arrested for drug crimes every day. However, authorities probably celebrate occasions when multiple individuals are arrested in a massive drug bust. That was the case in a recent story out of this state.

Recently in Minnesota, eleven individuals were arrested in Hastings on drug charges. The arrests were made through the Compact for Apprehension of Narcotics Dealers and Offenders Drug Task Force operation.

Sources indicate that the charges are related to the distribution of cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, ecstasy and prescription drugs.

While it is not common to make so many drug related arrests in such a short period of time, authorities indicate that months of investigations from several law enforcement agencies in the area have made it possible.

According to reports, various drugs and paraphernalia were seized during the arrests.

In the suspects' defense, they may want to examine the investigation that was conducted by authorities. For example, if officers improperly executed their search warrant, this could raise some serious Fourth Amendment issues. Specifically, if officers did not conduct the search and seizure in accordance with the law, evidence obtained could be thrown out and be inadmissible in a court of law. This would compromise any case against a defendant.

Authorities claim that the investigation is still ongoing, and they expect to make additional arrests. As this case plays out, it will be interesting to see exactly how many individuals are detained. Even if multiple individuals are arrested, each person will be entitled to his or her own unique defense.
