Lisa McLeod Lofquist was hired as an independent contractor by Philip G. Villaume & Associates in 1994 and assisted Mr. Villaume in representing clients in employment cases and cases involving teachers' rights until 1996 . She wrote and argued numerous cases to the Court of Appeals and successfully wrote and argued a case to the Supreme Court of Minnesota.

Ms. Lofquist lived in  Alexandria, Minnesota until 2010, where she maintained a limited pro bono, solo practice representing clients in the areas of business organization, social media policy for business, contracts for online and mobile application development, wills, and dissolution proceedings. She re-joined Villaume & Schiek, P.A. as an associate attorney in 2011 after moving back to the Twin Cities.
